Sounds like Media Player is associated with all your media files by default. Which version of windows are you running?
I'm using windows 7 64 bit and i have winamp v 5point65
have you gone into preffrences and made sure that all file Association were checked?
ya i think i did that but unless i open some files with winamp windows media will come up but i can try going in to prefferences and see that all files are checked
that should work. let me know if it doesn't
If that doesn't work, I'll tell you how to make it your default player in Windows.
i think your going to have to help make winamp my default player.
Hello to all the people that have given me help on this I got help from another list but just wanted to say thanks
For anyone else, on Windows 7 do the following to make your associations stick:
Click start then in the search box type Winamp. When it's selected, using up or down arrow, then use the applications key or right click then select Run As Administrator.
Then when Winamp is running, you can set your preferences and they should stick, if they didn't do so before.
Another way to do this is to go into windows media player and uncheck anything that it's grabbing, and then go back into Winamp, make sure all the file associations you want are checked, and that should fix the problem for good.
